EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EQ) – Practical Applications
You are most likely familiar with the word ‘Intelligence’. It is one adjective everyone would like to be described with. It is an ability to learn fast, understand, think critically and apply knowledge appropriately. To measure this ability, psychologists came up with a test for it and name it Intelligence Quotient (IQ). While IQ is a measure of mental intelligence, another form of intelligence have evolved over time- Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Some separate this from Social Intelligence (SQ) which involves interpersonal relationships.
Emotional Intelligence concerns the ability of an individual to have an awareness of themselves- their emotions and the proper use of them. EQ guides your thinking patterns and helps you get a grip on your behavior. With EQ, you understand your feelings and the reasons for them; you know how best to relate with others because you have control of yourself.
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) gives you an edge over others. This is why you need to learn how to develop it. Outbursts of anger, unbridled jealousy, loquaciousness, arrogance, stubbornness, selfishness, tyranny and the likes are all signs of low EQ. Find ways of becoming a better controller of your emotions in this slide presentation.
